About - Phyllis V. Du'Gas

I'm honored that you stopped by my site. For those of you that have followed my ramblings over the past seven years, I welcome you back and thank you for your loyal support.  For my new audience, I say, "Fasten your seat belts. I'm going to take you on an exciting ride."

I began writing in junior high school.  I wrote an 88 page coming of age play that wound up in the hands of my friend's Aunt, who wanted to talk with my mother about the content.  It was strictly fiction. I've always had a pretty vivid imagination and I enjoy delving into and writing about the human experience.  I'm a firm believer that we all can benefit from looking beneath the surface.  My goals in life are not so much about being successful - I want my life to be significant!   Success is awakening each day and being given the opportunity to live the best life I can.

I'm no stranger to the web.  I created the Millennium Women Network web-magazine which ran on the internet for four years (Jan 2000 - January 2003) to a monthly audience of 500,000 unique visitors.  I was blown away.  We covered the Kobe Bryant scandal and received 1 million hits. "Why do people love juicy gossip?"  I was named a Phenomenal Women of the Web and the Network was truly making a difference in people's lives.

The discussion forums held some of the hottest conversations on the web and new writers were showcased monthly.  Our celebrity gossip columnist "Miss Patty" will always claim she was the reason for the site's success.  I will always attribute our success to our integrity.  The mission was real:  "A cyberspace community, uplifting, informing and inspiring in truth and spirit."  To this day I receive emails from people who tell me how much they miss it.

For me personally, the Millennium Women Network was God's personal message to me that I had a bigger calling on my life.  I was being called to use my voice for the greater good.

Because of the devoted members of the site, I was encouraged to further my muse and I formally created
Nessa Publishing in October of 2002, as a vehicle for my first novel entitled, "I'm Still Standing - How much would you endure for love?"   Naturally, life got in the way and that project was put on hold.  (Life is an uphill journey)  Throughout my trials and tribulations I've continued to write.   Just as there will never be a perfect time to start a family, purchase a home, etc. etc. some times you just have to jump in and do it anyway.
You need to step out on faith and trust the universe to back your intention.

I invite you to go on the journey with me.  I'm a psyche major, and served 22 years in the legal community, but I have a PhD in life and loss.  My only child was killed in 1996 when he was 18 years old by gang member bullets.  Within three months my Father passed from cancer and my mother went to join them both on August 5, 2005.

September 11th pulverized this country.  I was affected directly due to an airline position I held at the time.  My life, as I had known it went into an entirely different direction.   Jewel Diamond Taylor said something that sticks with me each and everyday of my life:  "LIFE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE"  Believe it!

The last 10 years have been vibrant for me but through it all - I'M STILL STANDING and I've learned a few things that I cannot keep to myself.  When we stop learning, we cease growing.   What I've learned is that life is about two things:

        Timing and Choices

That lesson is the reason I write.  I write for you, and all of you like me, who live in a world that may not always be kind. I write for you who want to move outside of the box and look beneath the surface of your own "stuff."  We're all connected by Universal thought and principles.  We're energy and light and we're sick and tired of being sick and tired.  We want a better life.  We want the abundance that God promises each day.  I invite you on this revealing journey.

I always welcome your feedback and comments.   Stop by for coffee anytime.  I'll keep the light on okay!

In Truth & Spirit
